Will we ever learn

Once upon a time my friends a long long
time ago
The good Lord he reached out his hand
and made the sun to glow
He took some time and the next day he
created all the land
He gave it to his creature then said
I have but one demand
Honor me and treat the world, as you'd
have done to thee
Always treat each other well and you'll
come live with me
Some time later a friend of his he paid
the earth a call
Satan was his name I'm told and he came
to change us all
He whispered in our ears some things
that clouded up our mind
Suspicion greed and avarice and other
things unkind
Our eyes and souls were opened and paradise
was lost
From Adam and Eve on forward mankind
has pad the cost
The garden turned to jungle just a place
for us to hide
Where he tried to teach us honor but
we only wanted pride
So an ark was built by Noah to save
the creatures of the earth
And it rained for days and flooded so
man could have rebirth
He promised not to flood again and had
this thought to sell
Please learn the golden rule my friends
and treat each other well
But what Satan whispered in our ears
that clouded up our mind
Suspicion greed and avarice the Lord
could not unbind
This thing freewill he placed in us
a most integral part
A chance to make some choices we should
listen with our heart
Still he promised us a place to live
if we would only learn
Two thousand years and more have gone
it seems that we will burn
The human race is still growing encompassing
the earth
We are still using all for nothing and
taking all for all it's worth
Hiding behind religion stating the hated
one's are to blame
So refuse to hear those whisperings
Satan used to cloud our minds
Deny suspicion greed and avarice and
all other things unkind
Be excellent to one another I'm sure
its not to late
We still can learn the rule and stand
with Him at heavens gate |
